Where Can I Charge my Electric Vehicle?

​You can charge your vehicle at home, at work or at one of thousands of UK-wide public access points.

At the time of writing, more than 48,400 public chargers can be found across 29,000-plus locations around the UK, which means you’re never far from your next electric top up.

Most EV and PHEV owners charge their vehicle at home. You can do so via a standard domestic three-pin power source (rated at 3 kW) or a specially installed wallbox (rated at 7 kW).

Many businesses provide their employees with dedicated charge points that offer fast-charging (7 kW) capacity.

Benefits of electric

There are plenty of sound reasons for making the switch to electric. For instance, a fully electric vehicles produces zero harmful emissions while a plug-in hybrid produces considerably fewer emissions than a regular vehicles. Also, you won’t be charged for driving your vehicle in areas where there’s a levy on the production of excess harmful emissions, such as London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

Cost of daily use Electrified vehicles are more efficient than their regular combustion-engined counterparts. This is certainly true of EVs and PHEVs, which are very affordable to run. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) tend to be cheaper to run too.

Furthermore, all Ford commercial EVs and PHEVs – and the majority of Ford HEVs – are free from Clean Air Zone charges, including London’s ULEZ tariff.
Cost of maintenance EVs in particular are usually cheaper to maintain. This is because an electric powertrain consists of fewer working parts than a conventional combustion engine and is therefore less apt to go wrong.
Government’s electric schemes The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) provides a number of grant schemes that encourage the wider use of electric and hybrid vehicles.
